Extreme Makeover “Forever Wild Animal Sanctuary”

The Extreme Home Makeover folks took as its project the decrepit home and small animal cages of a wild animal sanctuary. “Forever Wild Animal Sanctuary” in California has been taking in redundant and ill-treated animals, which are mostly the unusual large cats.

The Extreme Makeover team had employed hundreds of volunteers. The Sponsors supplied earthmoving and construction equipment. Joel and Charmain Almquist and four daughters from teen to toddler, were all on a vacation in Costa Rica.

The team pulled down the house and built a new, larger home with solar panels on the roof. Each child’s bedroom had personal space. The house became a secure sanctuary and change of speed. The local community college and university offered four-year scholarships for each of the children.

The team also took one of the tigers to cure its paw injuries and performed a surgery from “de-clawing” and relieving it of stable pain.

They built a learning centre for educating the public. The learning centre will enable Forever Wild to bring in school tours. There are new terrariums for the exotic (venemous) snakes. It also has a food preparation area and large fridges, so that the family can prepare 300 lb of meat a day for their animals. Each animal had a new sign with its picture, name, and story.

They made larger cages with more space for the animals and an animal playground for the tigers. They wove cat beds from indestructible used fire hoses.

The builders and volunteers collected $50,000 for maintaining the learning centre. It was a fitting reward for the years of hard work and caring put in by the Almquists.

The Subtrahend

The subtrahend is one of the four essential arithmetic operations and is the inverse of addition. It is an item you’re subtracting from the minuend. Therefore in the arithmetic operation if the problem is 4 – 2, then 2 is the subtrahend.

It can also be said that it is the amount of money you’ve lost from your retirement account. Coming back to the arithmetic operations subtrahend means that if we start with any number and add any number and then subtract the same number we added, we return to the number we started with. To be more simple about the subtraction oerations and its names minuend (c) − subtrahend (b) = difference (a).

Brazilian Wandering Deadly Spider

The most deadly spider in the world is the Brazilian Wandering Spider. This spider species was found in a bunch of bananas in a Whole Foods Store in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Beware if you are purchasing fruit bundled in plastic bags or plastic containers. There might be some spiders which are deadly and which can survive even the long transport from many exotic places around the world. A Whole Foods employee in Tulsa is familiar with this spider, they were known as the “Banana Spider,” as the Brazilian Wandering Spider nestled in a bunch of Honduran bananas, and was able to capture it. This is now with the University of Tulsa’s Animal Facilities Department. Director Terry Childs says the Brazilian Wandering Spider is responsible for more human deaths than any other spider, and the bite can kill a person within 25 minutes.

The Brazilian Wandering Spider, genus Phoneutria - Family Ctenidae, was first discovered in the Amazon jungle, but it is often found in the rainforests of South and Central America. It eschews webs and burrows and instead, wanders the jungle floor looking for insects. It does not eat bananas, but hides in the leaves of the plant, and does enjoy the insects found around them.

This large spider, capable of a 4 to 5 inch leg span, is hairy with strong, spindly legs. They move quickly, they have eight eyes, and one of their most distinctive features are red jaws which they display when angered.

The Brazilian Wandering Spider is sometimes confused with the Tarantula, but there are few similarities other than their hairy bodies. Tarantulas are not poisonous, but they can have a painful bite. The Brazilian Wandering Spider is considered an aggressive and active hunter. These spiders eat large insects, small mice and lizards. The babies eat fruit flies and small insects.

The Brazilian Wandering Spider hides in dark places during the day time. Closets and boxes (maybe shoes) are preferred once one of these creatures manages to get inside a home or garage. Rubbish outside a dwelling harbors this spider, and the leaves of bananas make a favorite homestead.

There are many variety of hormones which are been released by the adrenal glands. The medulla which is in charge of producing epinephrine and (adrenaline). These hormones manage the body’s response to stress and affect blood pressure and heart rate.

The adrenal cortex produces hormones such as cortisone and aldosterone which are necessary for balancing fluid and electrolytes (salt) in the body as well as regulating the use of dietary protein, fats and carbohydrates and controlling inflammation.

The symptoms of cushing’s disease are:

1. Increased thirst/drinking and urination

The Old Navy Weekly

The Old Navy has commenced a website Oldnavyweekly.com, which will offer all hidden Old Navy weekly in-store coupons and also some exclusive promotions to keep you marvelous.

This clothing retailer and the open and original Gap Inc. offshoots has launched a new ad campaign on Thursday which is flier patterned and similar to celebrity magazine, a bevy of mock-models it is calling "Supermodelquins" and a renewed focus on its target market of young moms.

The consumers now can control on the optional spending and can also bargain, Old Navy is known for value offerings and is well balanced. Before there was a tough competition and an unfocused brand message which had hurt its outcome. Old Navy was opened in 1994, and had sparkled and taken the benefits for several years with its growing sales and profit. But the past few years brought them to an increasing drag on parent Gap and had an experience of sinking sales.

Old Navy's sales in stores open at least a year, known as same-store sales, dropped a sharp 34 percent in January. That compares to an 18 percent drop at Gap-branded stores and a 22 percent drop at their sister chain, banana republic.

Morningstar analyst Joseph Beaulieu said "When Old Navy launched it was an iconic brand, an early mover into the budget-priced but still somewhat trendy family apparel business," "Since then, a lot has changed, and there's a lot of competition."

In the mean time the retailers such as Target Inc. and Kohl's Inc., among others, have since blossomed in the same space. Old Navy President Tom Wyatt who is 53, took the wheel by acting as a president in the last year, and is the first to say the company strayed when it shifted its focus over the last two years from moms with young children to teens and "fast fashion."

"We walked away from our customer," said the President citing at the ad campaign which featured a gold-lame bikini in last April. "That is not what a 25- to 35-year-old mom is looking for," he said.

"Gwinnett County Schools"

The Gwinnett School gets its big school grant. Most of the schools near Georgia have been benefited from an “equalization” grant program which provides them additional money to assist for their tax base. But this year's biggest grant has been granted to the suburban Atlanta’s Gwinnett County.

An adjacent county is now weeping that the grant is unclean. The DeKalb officials who are lying off 127 employees in June are worried about the request of the review this year by lawmakers. They are also requesting and wanting the pool of qualified organization which comprises of 135 of the state’s 180 school systems to be prolonged to contain them.

“We’re putting money in and getting nothing back,” said the DeKalb school board member Jim Redovian. The grant program will measure the abilities of the system to hoist the local money, and also takes into concern both the total value of a system taxable property and its enrollment.

The state system will use the information in a formula that selects the best school for the grant. The idea behind this program is that the quality of the education provided to a child and abilities of the local systems to pay is considered and this is not be dependent on where the child happens to live, this is the saying of Herb Garrett who is the executive director of Georgia School Superintendents Association.
